Description:Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District (TBAISD) provides specialized programs, services, materials and personnel to educators and students in the five-countries of: Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska and Leelanau. The district encompasses 2,238 sq. miles. There are about 25,000 K-12 public school memberships and 2,800 in non public schools in the 2006-2007 school year.
TBAISD houses REMC 2 Central, which provides educators with exposure to new technological tools for educational use. The REMC 2 Technology Learning Lab provides training in a wide variety of computer applications to educators throughout the area. The TBA Career-Tech Center offers 23 career/technical programs to an average of 1,100 students from all area high schools. Through partnerships with a number of Michigan colleges and universities, Career-Tech students are able to complete many college credits while still at the center. This connection also assures students a smooth transition into post secondary education.
TBAISD operates a number of center programs for students with emotional, mental and physical conditions that limit their ability to succeed in a regular school environment. Diagnostic and therapeutic services for identified students are also available.
TBAISD offers School Improvement Planning, Professional Development, Program Development, Comprehensive School Health Services, and Achievement Data Management and Analysis through their Instructional Services Program.
TBAISD also provide a number of services in the areas of technology applications, business and financial applications, student accounting, fiscal coordination and adult education. TBA acts as an agent for collaboration between districts, community and educators throughout the area.
