Task Force: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

GELN members voted during the June 2021 Retreat to establish a task force to proactively lead Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives from a statewide perspective through long-term coordination and collaboration with other stakeholder groups to better support all Michigan’s students, educators, and educational systems.

The GELN Executive Board appointed: Alesia Flye (Macomb ISD), Lisa Meredith (Kalamazoo RESA), and Diane Talo (St. Joseph County ISD) to be Co-Chairs for the task force.

Recent additions to the task force include:

Dr. Jay Marks, Oakland Schools DEI Consultant, will serve as a key advisor. 

Dr. Melissa Usiak, Assistant Professor at MSU; and Executive Director of ASCD (Michigan), joins the task force as a researcher.
