Michigan Early Warning and Intervention Monitoring System
MiEWIMS
Originally started as a pilot, MiEWIMS (Michigan Early Warning and Intervention Monitoring System) is an online system developed to help districts identify and support students at risk of dropping out of school. Based on research that identifies attendance, behavior, and course performance as strong predictors for dropout risk, MiEWIMS leverages MiDataHub for all of this data from district data systems and MiLaunchPad for streamlined educator access.
MiEWIMS has been funded through September 30, 2029 (Section 25l of the 2024-25 school aid budget) to refine the tool, provide training in its use as part of a school's seven-step EWIMS process , and eventually make the tool available for any district in the state to use as part of its EWIMS process.
The 2024-25 school year will be used to work with the existing pilot districts to:
Enhance the MiEWIMS tool
Refine the data integration process that is critical to the tool's success
Develop training and data integration support resources
Develop and share an application for districts interested in becoming part of Cohort I of expansion
Select districts for Cohort I to begin using MiEWIMS in 25-26
