On behalf of the MAISA Early Childhood Administrators Network (ECAN); we are excited to share some inspiring stories from the field that highlight the positive impact of Early Childhood initiatives across the State of Michigan. We invite you to collaborate with us in amplifying these stories by sharing them with your local and state-level contacts and/or networks.

Our two days together are designed to deepen our understanding of Cognitively Guided Instruction research foundations while developing our practice of supporting other teachers to better listen and respond to children's mathematical thinking. We will engage in math learning opportunities together, analyze videos and artifacts of children's mathematical thinking, collaborate around instructional next steps, and make mathematics connections across a range of content spanning early counting, operating on single- and multi-digit numbers, and fractions/decimals.

As the ISD Superintendent Early Childhood Summit rapidly approaches, we wanted to provide additional information ahead of the October 10, 2024 event.

MAISA members were excited for an impromptu opportunity to personally deliver the 2023-24 Education Fellows Award to Michigan State Representative Regina Weiss (D-Oak Park) while attending the 2024 MASA Fall Conference in Traverse City.

Thanks to a historic investment in the FY 2025 state budget, access to free, high-quality PreK has expanded in Michigan! Beginning this fall, all Michigan four-year-olds can qualify for free PreK. Attending a quality PreK program has a positive impact on a child’s life by preparing them for success in kindergarten and beyond. Michigan's PreK program, through the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP), is ranked #1 in the nation for quality.
